The many roomed mansion of art is a palace with place for all.  At any given time there are those who inhabit the main floor principal rooms.  Some face the street, windows wide open, communicating with the passing parade, and some look out on the back, at peaceful gardens and places for contemplation.  Every room upstairs is crammed with folks attempting to express themselves.  Sculptors of every material, painters, videographers, new media, photographers: all reaching into their heads and hearts, and sending out creations from their hands. Each artist inhabits her own room. The basement has its furnaces and very dark and cool places.  Some dwell there.  And then there’s the attic with its tiny rooms and its quiet.

Where is my artist life located? In the attic in a tiny room contemplating a life observed.  I have had a long relationship with glass as a material for emotional expression.  My early work referenced the glass in the centre of the earth: the formative magma of our planet.  In later years I searched for beauty and found glass to be a willing partner in this quest.

Each artist has the pleasure of working in her own room, and the privilege of contributing to the ever-flowering of human expression.

When I leave that room I enter my other life which is full and rich.  I have the joy of a creative, intelligent partner, nine grandchildren who all live nearby, and am blessed with good friends.  I am grateful.
