One of my favorite days in a typical work week is the day I blow glass. My work day begins at
6am when I arrive at the hot shop. I have a plan ready for the day and my team arrives at 8 am.
In the 2 hours before we start working, all is quiet except for the roar of the furnace and the
other equipment that I fire up for the days activities. I love this quiet time to mentally prepare
for the day.

Once the team arrives, we have our hugs and greetings, then it is down to business. To give a
visual summary of what we will be creating and I usually have some drawings that I tack up in
the shop. Glass blowing is complex and physically demanding, so we are quickly absorbed into
the rhythm of working. I have a wonderful team who I have been working with for a number of
years. Their range of experience and expertise is essential for me create the caliber of work
that I demand for my sculptures.

When you are in the moment working with the hot glass, everything else fades away. It is just
me, my team and the hot molten glass, doing a dance to create.
